Wonderful experience after our ocean swim competition. Julia was our server and she was wonderful, attentive, and gave us great suggestions. Mina, the manager checked on us and made several recommendations for my son's food allergies. Everyone loved their food and my shrimp pasta was delicious, even if it only came with 5 shrimps, and the draft Pale Ale was perfect after the race. We loved the outside seating on the decks. ***Kudos to Julia and Mina for a wonderful experience and keeping everyone safe with delicious food!!***

I was shivering from a long swim when I arrived, and the waitress noticed and offered something my water clogged ears interpreted as "hot cuddle. Would you like this?" I immediately thought she was talking about a hot water bottle and said Yes please!!. I found out quickly that she was only offering to put on a 'hot kettle' for a mug of warm water. my disappointment was, yes, PALPABLE. ;-) In any case, she was very nice, quite slow to return every time (example: ordered Margherita upon start of entrée, got it as I was finishing entrée) but thoughtful and friendly. The Marg, btw was very refreshing, very limeade-y. I had the filet mignon kabob where even the grilled veggies were a star unto themselves - charred just enough and on the heat the right amount of time. Of course, the tender chunks of meat exuding its juicieness onto the bed of saffron rice, making the soft grains twice as delicious. Wife got the salmon - maybe just the tiniest of tads towards the dry side but still quite good. Do not get the tiramisu. Bleah. Totally worth going, though; we had an ocean view and a great time.

Went for a walk at La Jolla. Got hungry and came across this little place. It's cute has nice views the server and host were super sweet and the food was good. For a moment I was hesitant because we were the only ones there. We were pleasantly surprised. I got hummus for the appetizer and chicken kabobs for lunch. Definitely recommend.

Came for a business dinner and was able to share an array of appetizers. They were all good but nothing was a "wow". The shrimps with the guac was fresh and well seasoned. We really liked the fresh chips too. I ordered the mahi mahi which came with a pesto couscous. Fish was alright, but something tasted off with the pesto - I wonder if it's because it was nut free. Overall, not a bad option in La Jolla but also won't be my first choice in the area.

The good: Great location, right by the water, parks, and shops. Plenty of Mediterranean options to choose from, but we went the classic gyro. The pita was soft, the gyro meat was flavorful, and it was loaded with sauce and feta. Service was friendly and attentive. The not-so-good: Expensive, but that's also the area in general. Portion sizes were a little on the smaller side. They didn't have lamb for the gyro meat, so we went with beef. Food/drink: 8/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 Service: 9/10

I'm always on a look out for a good lamb shank and was so happy to find Olive & Basil on a recent San Diego trip. This restaurant is a short walk from the La Jolla Underwater Park where we went to see the seals. It is a full on Greek restaurant with a full menu of Greek cuisine. Within our party, everyone looked their food and the balcony seating had the ocean as the backdrop. My lamb didn't disappoint, the potatoes were flavorful, and whatever drizzle around my plate was delicious.
